Rick @ ‘Main Stage Show’ - nightclub vibes

What’s it about?

An improv comedy show that’s different every night depending on the audience. There are some pre-written skits, but the way they unravel depends on you. Bring a date, and come ready with suggestions!

My experience.

“Comedic genius”

“Modern humor brought to life”

“The right amount of raunchiness”

“A fun show for all... especially those on dates!”

“I laughed several times”

If my thoughts were displayed as viewer testimonials, that’s basically what they’d be. Lol.

As I walked in, I immediately got nightclub vibes. The lights were dim with blue spotlights hitting the main stage. There was upbeat pop music playing and a bar in the back with its very own piano man performing some live music. I had just arrived at this show after waking up from a nap… and my mood quickly went from zero to 100. I wish I had brought someone, because I really felt like going out after the show ended. However, I calmed my nerves with a chilled Stella Artois and sat my ass down. Mmmm, refreshing.

When the show started, I had no idea what I was in for. I expected the crowd to just throw out words as the actors came up with scenarios on the spot. And while it was a bit like that there were also scripted skits mixed in with some good ole improv. The actors used a ton of modern-day humor and managed to mix it in perfectly with what the audience threw at them. In one skit, I was really impressed by one of the actors who played a waitress and rattled off orders for about five minutes straight while speaking a hundred miles a minute... without looking at a menu! I don’t think I could speak like that for a minute without having to catch my breath, so yeah... she’s a BEAST!

Also, shout-out to the actors who sang Yelp reviews. That part literally had me LOLing. I never realized that Yelp comments could make such great pop songs. The hooks were on point! 5🌟/5🌟

This show turned out to be really freaking good. I had fun, the audience was cool and we were able to do our thing. The atmosphere was lit, the actors were funny and most importantly the tickets were CHEAP! I am definitely bringing my friends next time. ALSO, I don’t know if this is a regular thing or not, but on the night I went, everyone who had a ticket was invited to stay to watch the stand-up comedy show happening after FOR FREE. I didn’t stay because your boy had other plans, but what the heck! Anything free in NYC, yes please 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
